National Athletic Goods returns to Withered Fig for an exclusive “Earth Pack” Collection. Featuring an array of signature styles from their lineup of vintage American athletic wear in some earthy tones – Black, Choco, and Taupe.

National Athletic Goods (NAG) is one of those under-represented brands that we love to carry – a small brand that specializes in vintage-inspired knits, with quality fabrics from Japan and produced in Canada. Though NAG has been on hiatus for several seasons now, we were happy to link up with them to produce this exclusive run of vintage-inspired basics featuring 100% organic cotton. From every day t-shirts, to sweatshirts and hoodies, there will be a style for everyone. Notably, this is also the only production for NAG this season, so we’re honored to be the only store carrying new pieces from them this year.

The National Athletic Goods for Withered Fig Earth Pack Collection features three t-shirt styles (Basic T-Shirt, Pocket T-Shirt, Long-Sleeve Gym T-Shirt) and three sweatshirt styles (Raglan Warm-Up Sweatshirt, Single-V Warm-Up Sweatshirt, and Pullover Parka Sweatshirt), all in three colorways (Black, Choco, and Taupe), for a total of 18 different pieces. While you may not pick up every one, we’re sure that if you grab one you’ll likely want another color or style to go along with it.

The t-shirts are made from a 6oz Japanese milled organic combed cotton jersey that has a similar weight and hand as their core Fall/Winter t-shirts (recall the V-Pocket T-Shirts or the Athletic Tee). As a result, these make for a solid year-round t-shirt that you can wear throughout the seasons.

On the sweatshirt end, we have a 10oz Japanese milled organic combed cotton French terry, that is also similar in weight to their core Fall/Winter sweats.

For simplicity, we kept the colors as single words that are fairly broad. But we’ll delve into the colors a little more here for clarity. Colors are consistent across all the various styles (i.e. the Black Pocket T-shirt will be the same Black in the Pullover Parka).

For the Black colorway, for a description we’d call it a faded forest black. It definitely has a washed/faded appearance to it, but underneath the black there is a very slight greenish hue to it. Note that some of the photos on the product page make it appear more brownish-black, but please take note of the color description on the product page and see photos below that are more accurate.

For the Choco colorway, it was deemed “Chocolate Chip” when we received the sample swatch, and I feel it’s a fairly good description for a washed milk chocolate chip. The browns are soft and not in your face, so it should make for another easy pairing with other colors/items in your wardrobe.

Lastly, the Taupe colorway, and probably my favorite. It’s a fairly safe color for most everyone – not quite white, not quite off-white, not quite oatmeal. It’s uniquely in its own category and the Taupe description fits well in this case. What you see is what you get!

For reference, Richard is wearing Size (42 | L) in all of the modeled photos above. This is one up from model’s typical size. In general we find NAG’s sizing to be on the slimmer side of things, perhaps a 1/4 size small. So if you prefer a slim fit, you can probably go with your typical size. However, if you want something a bit more comfortable that still won’t be oversized, you can size up one as Richard did here.

For t-shirts, the Basic and Pocket T-Shirt will retail for $95, and the Gym T-Shirt for $100. For sweats, the Single-V and Raglan Warm-Up Sweatshirt will retail for $140, the Pullover Parka Sweatshirt for $165. Due to the larger order we placed for these as an exclusive, we were able to keep prices the same as their core line of Fall/Winter styles, despite switching to organic cotton – win for all!
